Dana White, the creator of Power Slap, sits down with coaches Darius the Destroyer and Wolverine to discuss prior matches; seven strikers are chosen for the upcoming Power Slap competition, while a number of others compete to advance to a subsequent slap-off.
Despite the controversy surrounding UFC President Dana White and slap fighting in general, the show must go on for TBS and Warner Media.
Following a delay, the Power Slap League will make its TV debut on January 18. Touted as “the biggest slap competition of all time,” the series takes place after AEW Dynamite and will be held inside the UFC’s APEX Center in Las Vegas.
There will be a cast house for the show (similar to The Ultimate Fighter) and Power Slap rankings. A winner will be determined by commissioned judges or if the competitor cannot continue after being knocked down after a certain number of rounds.
The judges will use the 10-point system popular in MMA and boxing (10-9, 10-8). There will be a fair weight discrepancy, mouthguards and earplugs, and enforced fouls.
